Replace Siding Channel

Be sure to nail into the existing holes on the adjacent siding. Figure out which pieces of siding you will need to remove to get to the j channel you are removing. The bottom channel of the new siding will lock into the top channel of the piece below it. Nail straight down on the replacement board in order to hit studs.

Consider replacing rotted areas with fiber cement siding. Take the replacement board fit it in place image 2 and nail it in with a hammer using galvanized nails. Fill in the nail holes. Step 2 hook a zip tool into the locking or butt edge of the piece of siding above where the j channel is you are removing.

Beginning at the bottom of the foundation siding is installed by hooking a j channel onto a protruding locking edge at the top of each successive siding piece.
