Replacing a broken spigot does not require a plumber but you should feel comfortable working with a soldering blowtorch to ensure you can safely complete the task.
Replace outdoor spigot siding.
Step 1 locate the main water shutoff valve for your house and turn it off.
Requires no special tools no soldering no cri.
Exterior faucets or spigots use compression valves and are among the least complicated of faucets to repair.
Normally a fairly easy job but i ran into an issue.
Run water from any faucet until water stops coming out.

Remove spigot using a pipe wrench turn your spigot counterclockwise to unthread the connection to the water line.
Step 4 attach the new faucet.
When i turn my faucet on water comes out as usual but i see a leak coming from the bottom of the house siding that drips about a foot out on each side of the faucet dripping off the bottom edge of the siding.
Use a stiff wire brush to clean rust corrosion and debris from the threads of the pipe.
Once the spigot is fully disconnected you should be able to remove it from the building.
If your faucet still leaks the stem may be leaking and you should replace the faucet.
Step 3 prepare the pipe to receive the new faucet.
On frost proof faucets the washer is located on the end of the long faucet stem.
If your faucet leaks out of the spout when it s turned off the washer is bad.
