One suggestion was to lift the roof trusses up 3 feet by adding to the outside walls. A roof needs strong rafters or trusses for support. Wood rot and deterioration weakens framing members over time and some of the framing members may need to be replaced. While prefab trusses are a serious shortcut to a stronger roof they don t allow the same uninterrupted interior space as their older cousins the common rafters.
